Also, for automatically install and update games and tracking of updates INSTEAD, you can use INSTEAD-Launcher

• Compiling from sources
• Pre-compiled packages:
  • Ubuntu. DEB-packages for i386 and x86-64;
  • Fedora. RPM-packages for i386 and x86-64;
• Compiling packages from sources:
  • Slackware;
  • Arch Linux;
  • Gentoo: EBUILD.

Tested on N8xx and N900.
You can find necessary dependencies in the official repository: http://repository.maemo.org/, branches Extras and Extras-devel; also you can use http://ageofikon.info/packrat/ and http://www.gronmayer.com/it/.

Installing from DEB on N900

To install INSTEAD on your device you'll have to install file apk and wait for data files to download after the boot. Also you can manually unpack SDCard image on your card. To install games just unpack zip archive with a game in directory /sdcard/instead/appdata/games.

• Standalone installation setup;
• Installation with a bunch of official games (instead-kit);
• Compilation using MinGW.

There is a successful compiling report on x86-64 architecture.

Instead comes with the FreeBSD main ports branch.

So just: cd /usr/ports/games/instead && make install clean

Somehow, you can.

• SDL (sdl_ttf, sdl_mixer, sdl_image);
• Lua (liblua) 5.1+

You can start INSTEAD from applications menu or by typing command:

instead

or

sdl-instead

If you've chose Standalone(1) when compiling from source, start the link (shortcut) to the sdl-instead file in root program directory.
